Modern Quilt for Father’s Day

Dad’s going modern this Father’s Day in a quilty kind of way.  This quilt fabric with the car’s in the blocks is actually vintage and I’ve teamed it together with the quilt block called ‘Links’ from the Modern Blocks book by Suzanne Woods. The backing it with yet another vintage piece of fabric with car’s on it as well.  My love affair with vintage textiles will never die and I’m thoroughly enjoying the fling that I’m having with  Modern quilting and pairing them up as I go.  All this little beauty needs now is the binding.  Dad is really going to love this quilt and I can’t wait to see the surprise on his face.

Modern Baby Quilt

Modern meets baby.  This quilt block is called Pinball from the Modern Blocks book by Susanne Woods.  I moved the centre part of the block around the square so that they was some movement around the quilt.  Each block has a fussy cut animal in the centre square from 1930’s reproduction fabrics. I considered quilting it with a maze but  in the end quilted it with a pinwheel design which was more suitable to a baby.  This quilt was bags of fun to put together!

Sisterly love

Every year I battle with an idea for a birthday present for my Brother.  This year he’s not getting socks or a book he’s getting this groovy granny square quilt!  Well as I still can’t remove myself from the Gammill,  I thought it would be rude not too 🙂
